Biodegradable Takeaway Food Containers
BioPak compostable food packaging is a biodegradable alternative to disposable food containers designed to suit a variety of hot and cold food, so you can keep your customers happy on the go!
For takeaway containers that provide a short useful life, it's important to consider its impact after its use. Regular disposable containers are made from polystyrene or plastic that end up in landfill for hundreds of years. BioPak eco-friendly takeaway containers are either recyclable, or commercially compostable which reduces greenhouse gases, returns nutrients back to the earth and improves soil quality, and costs less than sending waste to landfill.
With endless options to choose from, we have an environmentally friendly packaging option for all of your takeaway service needs. Our biodegradable takeaway containers come in all shapes and sizes with the option for compartments or regular containers.

We offer eco-friendly options for takeaway food containers, made from rapidly-renewable, responsibly-sourced resources like sugarcane pulp, bioplastic, and sustainably-sourced paperboard. Plus, our clear bioplastic bowls and sugarcane pulp products are the first, and only, products of their kind certified to Australian/New Zealand commercial compost standards – AS4736.
More about our biodegradable takeaway containers
Made from reclaimed and rapidly renewable sugarcane pulp – a by-product remaining after the juice has been extracted that would otherwise be burned – our range of sugarcane containers includes clam shells, square containers, rectangle containers, bowls and sauce cups with lids.
Our sustainably-sourced paperboard range includes bowls with lids, chip cups, boxes and trays, noodle boxes, lunch boxes, and sandwich wedges.
Prefer clear takeaway containers? Our clear bowls with lids and sauce cups with lids are made from Ingeo™, a plant-based bioplastic. Producing these bowls results in 75 percent less greenhouse gases than the conventional plastic it replaces.
In addition to being eco-friendly the takeaway containers are durable and versatile. Biocane containers are grease and water resistant, with a leak proof lid to ensure smooth transportation and delivery. Additionally, they are microwave safe, freezer safe and oven proof up to 220 degrees so you can enjoy your food whenever and wherever.
Where composting is not an option, many councils recycle paper takeaway packaging with other paperboard products. Alternatively, we offer our own composting service.
Our takeaway packaging options offer an eco-friendly alternative to disposable food containers, designed to suit a wide variety of food usages. All customisable with our free printing and design service so you can personalise your products and elevate your brand.
Convenience doesn't have to cost the Earth with BioPak. Our biodegradable takeaway containers are the perfect option for food packaging convenience and a great way to implement a sustainable footprint to your business. As leading manufacturer Biopak products ensure your customers are getting the best service, quality and variety.
Biodegradable Takeaway Contanier FAQs
How long do the biodegradable containers take to break down?
BioPak’s takeaway containers are industrially certified as compostable to the Australian AS4736 standard. This means the BioCane, BioPlastic and Paper board are all broken down within 12 weeks into nutrients that can be returned back to soil.
What are the biodegradable takeaway containers made of?
The BioPak takeaway containers are made from either BioPlastic, BioCane or Paper Board. BioPlastic is derived from biomass which allows a much faster degradation process than regular plastic without the harmful toxins and emissions. Similarly, BioCane is made from byproducts of sugarcane that are responsibly sourced and renewable. Paper board or BioBoard is made from pulp trees retrieved from sustainably managed plantations that is more cost effective and environmentally friendly than using excess amounts of wood.
Are BioPak takeaway containers oven and freezer proof?
BioCane products are suitable in the oven for temperatures of 220 degrees for 20 minutes, (not for reheating frozen food). BioCane packaging is also freezer friendly but has moisture barrier properties, so it's recommended its suitability is tested before use.
